Obama Nation

So we have a new President. I don't really get why people love this man so much, really more than they should. Don't get me wrong he will probably be a good leader, and I know he has inspired a generation to think anyone can make it to the White House. I just think it is foolish to put so much hope in one person. After all, he is only human.

now can you send those little angels over to pick up our current president and wisk him right on out of there… maybe he would like to have another conversation with the big guy upstairs

Great piece...

And thank you for stating exactly what I think.

Too much blame and too many hopes are placed on a single man. Remember, he's not a diety.

Well done and smartly said. I agree and have been feeling the same through the last few month.

Yes, he's human, & sure, he's bound to disappoint in some ways, but hey, he's a huge improvement over the guy who's been in charge!

Your title pun suggests a much direr view than your comments... surely you don't think his administration will be an abomination!?

The illo does capture your core concept beautifully, though! It's always dangerous to deify.

Thank you everyone for the comments; I really appreciate the thoughts.

Curious Art: I really thought the pun worked well because there is a book titled "The Obama Nation: Leftist Politics and the Cult of Personality." I don't think his administration will be a biblical abomination, I just think that lifting anyone person up to high is dangerous. Lifting anyone to a Godly level should always be considered a bad thing, to say the least.

Very true, besides the new name call Mr. President...he is no different like us too.
This is a monotone sentimental piece that I like, I adore your generousity on putting the angels together to up hold the wise clean Obama Nation to come:)

Regardless of everyone's political views I think this is a successful illustration and the fact that it gets people talking means it is doing it's job. Nice work!

I get what you are saying... but compared to bush... he's truly angelic(as your work already shows)... i don't know much about politics, i really can't keep up with it, mainly because i'm in college... but one thing that has happened due to the bush administration, is that the world had started hating the U.S.... like a lot!!!

People were hoping for change... and they are getting one... now it has to be seen if it is for the better or for the worse... :P

idle chatter... i'm bored...

nice illustration... hee hee... :)

amen to that!
He's just a good orator. Still, it's nice to have everyone else in the world calling America "a beacon of hope" again. I really hope he pulls us out of this downward spiral. More importantly, awesome caricature!

Remember the king in the bible that after is speech the people said it was the voice of God...and because he refused to give God the glory God smote him with worms and he died...

You are right about the fact people have tried to elevate him too high and I have actually heard some leaders say that he IS the messiah...WOW...

I'm not thrilled that he won but I wouldn't have been thrilled with any of em this time around. I'm to the point in life that I realize they all pretty much lie every time their mouths move and then we keep putting them back in office...I comment to one of my coworkers the other day that Mr. Change has managed to recreate the Clinton White House...same old same old same old.

Well said... in both words, and pictures! Sentiments not heard often enough in our industry.

Ah, I misread that as "bacon of hope".

Although that would be more delicious.

Nice illo, btw. I wonder where Blagojevich would fit into the apostolic pantheon.
