IF: Theory
A theory is something that is in flux; it is something that evidence is continually being built upon. It is kind of like an idea on trial. The one problem I have with theories is that they tend to have subjective detectives; the observers tend have an idea of what they want to find, so anything they find points towards their theory. Anything found contrary to their theory is omitted, or at least this is probably a temptation. So reality which is set forth by theories, scientifically speaking, can be based on opinions and the omission of facts. This hypothesis is a possibility or it is, at the very least, my observation.
Note: I originally had the idea of a sherlock homes character but the gesture drawing looked like a rabbit and I thought what the heck. This is an pen and collage experiment. I tried making a background but it turned out looking like junk.

Interesting-- I like this guy as a very serious rabbit. And I'm not sure if this is intentional, but it almost looks like he's inspecting his own foot, which compounds the faint air of silliness tied up in all the seriousness of his expression. Nicely done!
Faboo illustration!!
a : )
Great gesture, he's such a serious investigator-bunny. Love the texture you've built up in the colors, too.
Wow, this one's very nice. I love the way you did his ears, they look almost like antlers. Nice expression on the face too. And the forearms are superbly done. The whole drawing is so well done I couldn't take my eyes from the image for quite awhile, trying to soak up every little thing.
Great job!
Very cool illustration. I really like your treatment of the fur, it's very different from the colorization of the shirt. Did you do watercolor washes for the fur? It looks great.
Great work,
Best Wishes,
Issi
Great character! Good work!!!
Love the stance and the skin texture. Great IF!
clever theory and cool drawing ...
hmmm great...
good eve
Hi, Josh! I like the Sherlock-Rabitt, the costume is modern! A different look, I must say. The colors are great... good draw!
Nice illo as well as very true words. I often laugh at some of the theories that are presented as vehement fact..front page news...but then when a major flaw is exposed it is usually stuff on page 37 in a one sentence paragraph...6 point type...A prof in college that had been on multiple expeditions said that he was amazed at how people would 'bend' so that they wouldn't lose their funding when what they found didn't line up with the popular opinion of the day...show me the money...
I dig the perspective and line work. Nice piece...
Great subjective detective-- he looks very determined to find what he's seeking.
A theory is a set of related ideas, and scientific theories do not work in the way you describe.
Rather, the opposite. A theory accommodates all observable facts.
Scientific theories in particular are explanations for phenomena, not caged-together collections of opinions that stand by omitting facts.
Should new facts come to light, good theories are revised, and our understanding of the universe is updated.
While there is a human temptation to resist yielding favored theories in the face of contrary evidence, this is more rare than you'd think.
neat take on the theme!!!
love the detail and composition of your peice...
Cheers,
Diana
cool rabbit.
fab illo !
This is such a dynamic illo; such a strong pose.
Similarly to Elizabeth, at first I thought he was looking closer into the theory (or superstition) that a rabbit's foot is lucky. :)
